As a young couple, these homeowners had a design idea in mind for their family’s forever home in the Black Hills. While admitting building a house was more work than they envisioned, they wouldn’t trade the finished result for anything.

Perfectly blending texture-rich elements including a rough pine ceiling, stained concrete floors, and shiplap wall coverings with refined elements such as custom wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and a bright and clean subway tile backsplash, this couple achieved design transcendence creating a finished space that is as captivating as it is functional.

Unique feature pieces such as a 10’ tall, handmade pantry ladder and a 100+ year old etched sliding barn door (an heirloom from their family’s east river farm home, generations past) add to the allure of the space for any visitor.
